About us

We are journalists. We refused to stop at reporting.

A non-profit run by volunteering journalists, headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, working directly with displaced communities across the Gaza Strip.

We are journalists. Our work has been to document what has happened to Gaza and what is still happening — to record it accurately and to make sure it is seen. That work puts a person in an unusual position. You come to know, in specific detail, which families have been missed, which camp has no water this week, which school could be repaired with a modest amount of money.

You know it because you are standing there. Project Hope for Palestine exists because that knowledge demanded something more than a report. We are deliberately small: volunteer-run, with a low overhead, and a short distance from a donor’s decision to a family’s door. We do not intend to become an agency.

“We were documenting these communities long before we were funding them.”

What we hold to

Six things that decide what we fund

Not a mission statement. These are the rules we actually apply when choosing where the next delivery goes.

Proximity

Our teams and partners live in the communities they serve. Nothing is delivered by remote control, and no assessment mission is needed before we can act.

Dignity

How aid arrives matters as much as whether it arrives. We pair distributions with music and performance, because survival alone is not a life.

Truth

We came out of journalism and we have not left it. Accurate documentation of what is happening in Gaza is part of our purpose, not a function attached to it.

Directness

Volunteer-run and deliberately small. Overheads stay low by design, so support reaches families rather than structures.

Partnership

We coordinate with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the Palestinian Civil Defense rather than building parallel operations beside them.

The overlooked

We deliberately direct resources toward the communities large-scale aid tends to pass over: orphans, rescue crews, injured children, artists.

In numbers

What that adds up to

70K+people we help every day
2,000+families served by water truck
63team members on the ground
