Journalists in Gaza are doing work of enormous consequence — recording what happened and what is still happening. When a journalist is killed, the record thins. When a journalist’s family is left without support, the profession becomes impossible to continue.
Our program runs in coordination with the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and does two things: it supports reporters who are still working, and it supports the families of those who were killed doing it.
Why we are not an outside body
Project Hope was started by journalists and media workers. The people this program supports are colleagues, and several of the people running it are in the same position as the people it reaches. That is not a marketing line; it is the reason the Syndicate works with us directly.
We are not an outside body assisting a profession. We are that profession, supporting itself.

Support takes the form the Syndicate identifies as most needed at the time — equipment, protective gear, direct family support. We do not decide that list from California.
